It’s that time again. It’s time to clean up your template. This dreaded process of removing unwanted layers, text styles, dim styles and multileader just got easier. Because Civil 3D styles and labels reference layers in them, you can’t just isolate a layer and say delete all anymore. With CIM Manager Suite - Template Tracker, you can select a layer and Template tracker will list out all the Civil 3D Styles and Labels that are referencing it. From there one can Edit the style, Swap the layer or possible purge the style freeing up the layer to be finally deleted. Cleaning up unwanted Text, Dim and Multileader Styles works the same way. Select the style and it will list where it is used. Currently the out of the box functions of Civil 3D does not give you the ability to see where these styles are used.
1. Comprehend how to launch the tool to track what layers are being referenced by Civil 3D objects
2. Understand how simple it is to re-associate Civil objects to new layers
3. Grasp the power of finally being able to see where a Text Style is being used.
4. To take this knowledge to streamline the templates by removing unwanted data.
